Introduction to Sewing

Learn how to thread your sewing machine, how to read a pattern, sewing terms and equipment, and basic sewing techniques to sew a tote bag in class. Perfect for those with little or no sewing experience. You will need to bring your own sewing machine! 

$10 supply fee payable to the instructor. Under age 18 must be enrolled with an adult. 

Supplies Needed:

  • sewing machine in good working order with bobbins
  • standard/universal needles
  • scissors
  • tape measure
  • pins
  • ruler/ seam gauge
  • seam ripper
    Late Registration: If you miss the deadline but are still interested, you can contact the Community Ed office by emailing us at CommunityEd@isd623.org or calling: 651-604-3770. Space may be limited, but we'll try our best to accommodate late registrations.

    Refund Policy
    If you need to cancel your registration, in order to receive a refund, you must notify Roseville Area Schools Community Education at least one (1) week prior to start date of the class/event/camp/activity, and that I will be issued a refund minus a $5 service charge. Registrations are not refunded in the event of a weather cancellation.

Mary started sewing from store bought patterns in 1999 and almost immediately began adapting them to fit her wants and ideas for how they should be. She kept that passion for designing and working with her hands and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Clothing Design. Mary enjoys making and creating all types of things and continues to design and create clothing and accessories and has participated in several art and craft fairs and fashion shows.
