Early Childhood ScreeningEarly Childhood Screening is a free service to check your child's growth, development, and learning. During the screening, your child will complete a variety of activities that show their communication, cognitive, and motor skills. SCREEN AT 3Though screening can be done anytime between ages 3 and 5, screening is recommended at age 3. Screening at age 3 allows families to identify and address any developmental, health, hearing, or vision concerns early, when support and intervention can make the greatest impact. Completing the screening at this age also provides plenty of time to connect with resources and ensure children are fully prepared for preschool and kindergarten. The screening has a separate scoring system for each age group, so waiting until your child is older will not improve a score. REQUIRED FOR PRE-K & KINDERGARTENEarly Childhood Screening is required for participation in our Pre-K program. Minnesota state law also requires families to have their children screened before they enter kindergarten. Students will start with smaller projects to learn the basics of coding, design, and interaction. In the final two days, they will construct a full labyrinth complete with challenges, characters, and immersive exploration.
